Why This Watch Matters This reference 7413 Longines chronograph is fitted with one of the most celebrated chronograph movements – the 30CH, with a flyback chronograph function. The Full Story Longines has enjoyed a prestigious reputation as one of the premium Swiss watchmakers, but when it comes to vintage pieces, most collectors cherish the brand’s celebrated chronograph movements. In 1936, Longines introduced the 13ZN, which is probably one of the the most iconic chronograph movements produced. The success of the 13ZN allowed further creations such as the 30CH and the 530 calibers, which are also highly regarded chronograph movements. Longines was renowned not only for being the first to present a flyback chronograph in a wristwatch, but also for how clean and instantaneous the chronograph action and reset was. The current example is a slightly more sophisticated, dressy version of the chronograph than its “tool watch”counterpart. The silvered dial has gained a nice patina which now shows a hint of light golden color that goes spectacularly well with the gold indexes and hands. The tachymeter and telemeter scales are enhanced by the blue and red print, which definitely add presence to the watch. The bevels on the lugs are still present. The bottom pusher button appears to be a replacement. The dial shows a nice patina with the tachymeter and telemeter scales showing some softening of the blue and red colors respectively. There is a speck of unspecified material that is sitting between seven and eight o’clock. The handset shows some scratches, and a very light oxidation is visible on the seconds hand (register to the left). The movement is in running condition and the chronograph function is starting, stopping, and resetting correctly at this time.
