The Full Story As the vintage watch market has matured, and the highly coveted pieces by major watch brands have become increasingly difficult to find, in-the-know collectors and enthusiasts have started to look elsewhere. As a result, many lesser-known watch brands have slowly been uncovered. Despite the newfound attention placed on many once-neglected brands, Technos remains an under-the-radar choice for many. In recent years, however, Technos has started to gain traction, but it remains an attainable brand that offers great value, especially in nicely aged models like this Sky Diver. Technos was born in 1900 and saw its peak during the 1950s to the 1970s. In those decades, the brand made its mark as a reliable maker of tool watches. The Sky Diver has the appeal of a classic dive watch with a rotating 60-minute bi-directional bezel, a screw-down crown, exaggerated luminous hour markers, and a thick handset for ultimate legibility. The screw-back case design is adorned with the Technos crest in relief. On the inside, the case is stamped with Swiss Brevet patent number 238872 for the water-tight case construction, the same design used in the Universal Genève Polerouter Sub (ref. 869109/01) and the Titus Calypsomatic (ref. 5913). The case is strong with scratches and the caseback engravings are visible. The nine o'clock side of the case has a horizontal scratch in the center. The dial is in good condition and has remained glossy; some spots of patina have developed throughout the dial in the center and near the hour markers; these spots are hard to see. The hands and hour markers have developed patina. The lume on the hands and dial have developed some dark patina. The lume on the seconds hand has darkened mostly and has a small spot missing by its base. The bezel is in overall good condition with light scratches and signs of wear on its edges and sides. The dial, case, movement, crown, and bracelet are all signed by Technos. The crystal has light scratches. The beads-of-rice Technos bracelet is in overall very good condition with very light stretch.
