Why This Watch Matters This is an lovely example of the reference 1675, with a matte dial and stunning patina. It is an absolute joy on the wrist, especially since this one comes with the thinner Rolex rivet bracelet. The Full Story In production for 20 consecutive years, the reference 1675 was one of the more prolific models produced by Rolex in the '60s and '70s. The 1675 was first introduced with a glossy gilt dial, which was later changed to a matte dial in the late 1960s, like the one you see here with an incredible patina. The indexes and hands have aged gracefully and are slightly different shades – something you often see with this reference. The bezel insert might be newer, but it still emphasizes how well thought-through this watch was – as tracking a second time zone finally became simple. Overall, this is a fantastic example of a 1675 with some of the most gorgeous patina we have seen. There is a tiny scratch on the lume of the GMT hand that is only visible with a loupe. The case remains fat with visible bevels on the lugs, however there are signs of light polishing. Also note one small ding on the edge of the lower right lug as well as light scratches throughout from normal age and wear. It comes with a period-correct Oyster bracelet reference 7206 produced in Mexico for an American department store; it is important to note that we cannot say if the watch was born with this bracelet as the Oyster folding clasp reference 7836 bracelet is also a possibility. However, the 7206 bracelet you see here does come from the correct period (1960s) and could be a possible match. Note that the bezel insert has been replaced, as is commonplace with regular servicing by Rolex. Overall this watch is in very good condition.
