Why This Watch Matters Durable and lightweight, this Breitling Spring has the perfect amount of 1970s charm. The Full Story This Breitling, with a cushion-form case straight out of the 1970s, was developed as a tool for athletes to be able to take their pulse. The case is made of an ultra-light resin composite, which is accented by a brushed aluminum dial and bezel. Though the model came in a variety of bright colors, this rich maroon is the perfect companion as the days grow cooler and the leaves change colors. In fact, the watch brand that adorns the wrists of many contemporary athletes also uses resin in the manufacturing of their ultra-light wristwatches - Richard Mille. What we Love and What You Should Know Due to the durability of the resin case, careful handling by previous owner or owners unknown, and a well-made dial and bezel, this Sprint has been preserved in excellent condition. The metal front of case still shows its original brushed finish, with little to no blemishes. The bezel and dial, a deep shade of maroon, are virtually untouched, with the tritium lume plots intact and aged to a pleasant, uniform yellow-orange. The ultra-light cushion-form case wears well on most wrists due to the short lugs.
