Why This Watch Matters A fantastic example of a wristwatch chronograph from the 1970s that gives you all of the good of the era, and none of the bad. Bright orange accents play tastefully against some of the more traditional design cues of this two-register chronograph with date. The Full Story It is very tricky to integrate a date function with a chronograph display, and Nivada managed to accomplish this handsomely with this particular design – a cult classic amongst those who love the 70s watches. Note the striking orange notes, both on the seconds’ chronograph hand and within the first 5 minutes of the right sub-register, potentially to allow for tracking the five minute interval between the warning gun and starting gun in a sailing regatta. You don’t need to have a yacht (or, thank heavens, a yachtsman’s budget) to appreciate this piece, though; just an appreciation of bold but still balanced design. On the dial, the second track is partially faded on the upper part of the dial. Some discoloration can be seen on the top part of the orange chronograph hand.
