Why This Watch Matters Zenith is synonymous with great chronographs, but this example is a quiet yet strong contender among its collection with its stunning grey sunburst dial and automatic movement. The Full Story Nowadays, Zenith is almost always associated with the legacy of its El Primero chronograph movements, but it has been producing classy dress watches and pocket watches as well well before its chronograph fame. This example has a great balance between a dress watch and a sportier style taking cues from 1960s and 1970s design. First, the simple grey sunburst dial is gorgeous. The lines on the case are smooth and uncomplicated, exemplified by the sharp, straight lugs that are reminiscent of the chronograph A271. The date window is neatly located between four and five o’clock, giving a slightly asymmetrical presentation. The vintage bracelet with bark-finish mid links by Novavit S.A. makes it very comfortable on the wrist. The case shows very light surface scratches overall, and it appears that the case was polished in the past. However, the case number on the caseback is still clearly legible. The crown appears to be a replacement crown. The dial is in very clean condition without any noticeable aging on the surface, The movement is in running condition. The bracelet may have been later added, but it is in very good condition, with the Zenith logo on the clasp and stamped “NSA STEEL INOX SWISS MADE.”
