The R.A.M started offering the six coin proof set dated 1971 with an issue price of $10.00 per set. The 1c to 50c coins were housed sealed in a see-both-sides hard plastic case. Only 10,066 proof sets were produced and distributed around the world with an initial limit of 5 per order. Because the coins in the set were sealed for the first time in this format, turned coins and toning is often found on them, particularly on the 1c, 2c & 50c pieces. Storage in other than optimum conditions has resulted in a significant proportion of them containing toned spotted, fingerprint, spoiled and mishandled coins. It is now very difficult to find a pristine quality set with unimpaired coins.
