Rockson was a short-lived Japanese pedal builder who used an enclosures that is a shameless copy of the iconic Boss Compact Pedal series. But the plagiarism may go further than jus t the enclosures—many aficionados claim that Rockson units rely on circuits lifted from the Boss playbook (albeit with cheaper parts that can lend some wackiness). The Rockson CE-40 Chorus looks and sounds an awful lot like the Boss CE-2, down to the green label on the back. The knobs shaped differently s, and the LED is in the left-side corner instead of in the center, but let's be honest—it's pretty obvious what Rockson was going for... The CE-40 has two controls—Rate and Depth—and it produces the classic analog, bucket-brigade sound. As you turn it on, your tone is washed in classic lush, liquid chorus. This 1980s Rockson Chorus has some minor paint chips and scuffs, but it's in nice cosmetic shape for its age. It functions 100% as it should, and it oozes with '80s vibe—it even has a genuine JRC4558D op-amp on the board. Great chorus with a funky vibe! Show more
