Why This Watch Matters This Rolex Submariner reference 5513 has gorgeous patina and no date window. What more could you ask for? The Full Story The Submariner reference 5513 was in production from 1966 to around 1989, and can be recognized by its well-balanced black dial. This particular reference 5513 was produced in 1982, and has a Maxi Mark IV dial. The Maxi dial first came about in 1976 and got its name from the oversized painted tritium indexes. The Mark IV dial is signified by a few nuances, such as feet first, open “6” in the depth rating, the word “Submariner” being shorter than the length of the depth rating, the equal sign falling underneath the letter “A” in “Submariner,” and the signature “zig zag S” in "Submariner." All of these small details define the Maxi Mark IV dial, however, the real story is in the beauty of this example and the vanilla patina on the dial. You don't want to miss this one.
