This is a new Aftermarket replacement for the Triumph Thunderbird 900 Igniter . This unit also works on any Triumph that shows the stamped number below. The original ignition unit was made by GILL and has to have this # stamped on it T1290069 ( The original part is shown in the photo below) The new replacement ignition unit larger and will mount differently than the original part. This unit has some improvements over the stock unit: The unit is protected against over-voltage from a bad regulator rectifier, battery, ignition coils and reversing the battery connections There will be a smoother acceleration when revving the up the engine This is a digital unit which is more accurate which is not affected by temperature changes It has an optimized performance curve which should give you more power. When the battery voltage changes this ignition unit will change the control to the ignition coil(s) so the spark power will stay the same.
