1x4 Walnut S4S boards have an actual size of 3/4"x3-1/2". Surfaced 4 sides (S4S) and double end trimmed with a moulder finish. Our Walnut is graded Select & Better and kiln dried f or maximum stability. Walnut glues, stains, and finishes well, (though Walnut is rarely stained). Responds well to steam bending. Heartwood can range from a lighter pale brown to a dark chocolate brown with darker brown streaks. Color can sometimes have a grey, purple, or reddish cast. Sapwood is pale yellow-gray to nearly white. Figured grain patterns such as curl, crotch, and burl are also seen. Also available in other widths and thicknesses for special order.
