Imam Hasan Al-Banna developed “The Twenty Principles of Islamic Understanding" to serve as a starting point towards the revival of Islam in our times. He said about these principles that he “…spent much time seeking a way to gather the hearts of Muslims around a common aim that would unify their souls and inspire action that would serve as a foundation for the revival of Islam in our times.” Imam Al-Banna asked scholars of his era and future generations to reflect on these principles that should serve as a constitution of cultural and philosophical unity among Muslims throughout the world. He also enjoined on members of the Islamic Movement that the first pillar of their pledge is to understand these matters very well and invite the Ummah to adopt them. Muslim American Society presents the “The Twenty Principles of Islamic Understanding of Imam Hasan Al-Banna” with Dr. Imad Bayoun. Dr. Bayoun is widely involved in religious education, especially among the youth, as a lecturer for the Muslim American Society (MAS). Dr. Imad was born in Beirut, Lebanon, where he received his BS and MS from the American University of Beirut. He received his PhD in Entomology from the Texas A&M University, and a PhD in Islamic Studies from the Graduate Theological Foundation.
