A 35-year-old limited release from Benromach distillery, distilled in the early 1980s and aged in first-fill sherry casks, was released in two tranches during 2016. Benromach disti llery in Speyside was built in the 19th century, and after changing owners, it was eventually bought by Gordon & MacPhail, who rebuilt it from scratch and turned it into a well-regarded and widely distributed single malt. Nose: Intense sherry notes with honey and apricot marmalade, kiwi and grapefruit. Palate: Fruit cake, baking spices, honey, dark chocolate, and hints of tobacco.
