In 2000, the U.S. Mint struck 5,000 Sacagawea dollars for use as payment to Glenna Goodacre, the designer of the obverse of said dollar. Five years later it was discovered that the se coins had been struck on specially prepared dies, giving them an obvious-to-the-naked-eye prooflike finish.
