Location Leicester Print Workshop Date & Time Sunday 15th March 10.00am - 4.00pm Tutor Sally Stephens An adventure with paper and ink! During the day you will learn a variety of monotype skills and develop a collection of unique, experimental and colourful images. A glimpse into the unique and endless possibilities of one off printmaking. We will be using layers of transparent ink, cut paper shapes and other found materials as stencils, and also manipulating ink on the plate's surface before printing it on a press. This workshop is equally suited to new printmakers and those with experience. Course Structure Introduction and demonstration of the technique Begin stencil cutting and printing Develop ideas and experiment with found items Clean up Look at work and evaluation About the Tutor Sally Stephens uses the intaglio processes of etching and drypoint in her practice and also some screen print.Her work frequently explores the human face and its enduring fascination. Crowds and collections of faces provide a way to think about how the individual relates to a group, and consider the connections between people. Work is also inspired by travel and encountered images, for example Greek and Roman sculpture and busy city streets. Sally has completed an Advanced Diploma in Printmaking at Central St Martins School of Art and an M A in printmaking at Northampton University. Sally is part of the LPW tutor team and has also delivered several community projects. Leicester Print Workshop Leicester Print Workshop is the regional development centre for printmaking. Established by artists in 1986, we are a registered charity, supported by Arts Council England. Our RIBA award-winning building is situated in Leicester City Centre's Cultural Quarter and is home to a large, well equipped open access Printmaking Studio.We have over 30 years’ experience of teaching people printmaking. Our programme offers the largest number and broadest range of printmaking courses in the region, with courses suitable for beginners as well as experienced printmakers, delivered by practicing artists and nationally renowned tutors.
