While Leo Fender's intentions may have been to build an accessible, mass-produced, workingman's instrument, the designs his company introduced in the '50s are among the most versatile and usable templates in the history of the electric guitar. Because of Leo's assembly-line construction techniques, they are also some of the most easily customizable and modifiable instruments. Over the years, some Stratocasters and Telecasters have become the tricked-out hot rods of the guitar world. With the right combination of parts, players can create a personalized, unique instrument that inspires them and provides the right tones for their sound. This Fender Partscaster is a monster Stratocaster with some interesting features. It starts with a 2003 Fender American Stratocaster body and neck with Maple fingerboard. Then, a three-ply black pickguard and genuine Fender gold hardware all around (including every screw and the string tree) were added. To make sure this one stays in tune, it sports locking Hipshot tuning machines, which are gold as well. Under the hood, you'll find Fender Custom Shop '69 Stratocaster pickups. Overall, this is a bitchin' Strat with tons of mojo, and we love the black-on-black/gold concept. This 2003 Fender Partscaster Stratocaster was assembled by Woodsongs Lutherie for our friend Drew Emmitt of Leftover Salmon. Since it was built to Drew's specs, we feel like "Drew" is an appropriate name for this unique axe.
