Taylor introduced the Grand Symphony body in 2006, and it is designed to produce a rich and robust sound with tons of headroom and a wide dynamic range. Taylor describes this versatile body size as a "Grand Auditorium with a turbo boost." In comparison to the Grand Auditorium, the Grand Symphony is a little bigger all around— it has a slightly wider waist and a bigger lower bout. That larger footprint yields a more potent and more dynamic sound all around. With a GS, you can expect deeper bass, thicker trebles, and increased volume/low-end sustain—all without disrupting the tonal balance and clarity of the guitar. The Taylor GS7 (which unfortunately is now discontinued) combines the Grand Symphony body with a Western Cedar top and East Indian Rosewood back and sides. The Cedar top is a little softer than Spruce, and that lends a slightly warmer sound that is more dynamic with a lighter touch. It's a great fit for East Indian Rosewood, which packs deep lows and articulate highs. This 2011 Taylor GS7 is in excellent condition with minimal signs of wear and use. There is a finish blister on the treble side of the neck heel, as well as some minor bumps and bruises here and there (a few on the top and on on the edge of the headstock—see photos), but overall this Taylor has been nicely preserved. It plays beautifully and has a powerful sound with complex overtones.
