In 1959, Gibson introduced the ES-345 as a less fancy, stop-bar tailpiece option that still featured the same stereo electronic setup and Varit-tone switch of the more expensive ES -355. Its two tone controls, two volumes, three-way switch, and six settings on the Vari-tone allowed players to capture a wide array of versatile tones. As iconic blues players such as Freddie King began to choose the ES-345, the model quickly became an instant classic, even though it may be harder to find than other Gibson models. This 2012 Gibson ES-345 was built in Gibson's Memphis facility, and it features a '60s slim taper neck profile, stereo or mono electronics, and of course the signature Vari-tone switch. This one is in excellent cosmetic condition with a few interesting modifications. In the neck position, it features a Lollar Novel 90 (P90 for humbucker) in the neck position, which provides an interesting match for the stock Classic '57 in the bridge. A new bone nut and Graphtech bridge with graphite saddle provide better tuning stability, and the neck has been stripped of its finish for a fast, smooth "Speed Neck" feel. Oh yeah, and Gary Clark Jr. signed the back of the headstock at the Telluride Blues & Brews festival, imbuing this guitar with an extra level of mojo.
