This panorama of the 2014 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic, taken by Christopher Gjevre, featured its first Canadian team, as the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Detroit Red Wings took to the ice. The annual event, held by the National Hockey League® on or around New Year’s Day, celebrates the history and tradition of outdoor hockey. This year’s event was played at The Big House® on the University of Michigan campus and the NHL announced an attendance record of 105,491 during the third period.
