The 2016 Michigan Capitol Ornament celebrates the recent fabrication and installation of two monumental reproduction lamp posts that stand at the entrance to Capitol Square. The la mp posts were crafted from historic photographs featuring two large lights that were installed on our grounds in 1878. The original posts were cast by the Samuel J. Creswell Company of Philadelphia, the same company that provided the metal for the Capitol's dome. Show more
