In a small shop just a few blocks from the Pacific Ocean in Santa Cruz, CA, Rick Turner builds some of the most intriguing electric guitars in the business. Played by big-time rockstars on the biggest stages, Rick's guitars have become the stuff of legend. With a sincere dedication to his craft, Rick remains involved in every step of the build process. His focus is balancing innovation with tradition, but his creations offer something entirely new. The Renaissance uses a semi-hollow thinline body and a piezo pickup to reproduce full-frequency acoustic tone for recording and performing. Its design is streamlined to minimize feedback and provide consistent tone under any conditions. It is built like a fine acoustic guitar with a solid Redwood top and Walnut back and sides—all of the sides are bent like a traditional acoustic, and it even has traditional bracing. While it has a ton of natural resonance, a Cedar center block underneath the hood helps cut feedback. Its electric signal is generated by a bridge Piezo pickup, which feeds into a D-Tar Wavelength preamp. Plugged-in, the preamp gives you a ton of flexibility to dial in authentic-sounding acoustic tone that can handle any stage mix. Every detail of the Renaissance is absolutely meticulous, and its no wonder this model is seen on big-time stages all around the world. This 2016 Rick Turner Renaissance RS-6 features a steel-string setup and a Redwood top with Cedar back and sides. It shows some minor playwear, but it is in excellent condition with no severe cosmetic blemishes. It plays well and has a comfortable neck profile that allows for access all the way up the fingerboard. Like all Turner guitars, it is visually distinctive, and combined with its feedback resistance, it is built for the stage. But it will perform equally as well in the studio. The guitar includes a slightly-oversized padded gig bag from Access.
