When there aren't 2 existing working keys to use to initiate programming, please contact an automotive locksmith for programming. If you have two working keys, this can be programmed with an included easy to use customer programming procedure. Programming Procedure: For GMC Terrain (2018-2021): Please contact a locksmith for key cutting and remote programming as this vehicle isn't onboard programmable. For GMC Acadia (2017-2022): To program, the vehicle must be off and make sure to have all keyfobs including the new one are handy. 1. Put the your two programmed remotes in the cupholder.2. Remove the key lock cylinder cap on the driver door handle. Insert the vehicle key of your new remote into the key lock cylinder on the driver door handle and turn it to unlock position five times. You will see a (READY FOR REMOTE) message from your DIC display.3. Put the new remote into the transmitter pocket. Transmitter pocket is usually found inside the center console area between the driver and front passenger seat.4. Press the ENGINE START/STOP button once. Your DIC display will say it's ready to program another remote which indicates that the new remote was successfully programmed.5. Remove the remote from the transmitter pocket and press the unlock or lock button once. Repeat steps 3 to 5 to program another remote. When all remotes are programmed, press and hold the ENGINE START/STOP button for 12 seconds as it will exit programming mode.
