In certain genres of music—such as bebop jazz or rockabilly—only a hollowbody archtop does the trick and captures the right sound. Because of the additional labor involved in every step of the construction process, these guitars often come with astronomical price tags, which prohibit aspiring players and hobbyists from accessing their unique sound. But for more than four decades, Ibanez has solved this dilemma with quality archtop guitars that won't break the bank! Built overseas to keep costs low, Ibanez archtop guitars deliver the look, feel, and sound of treasured vintage examples guitars, but they also push in new directions and improve upon time-tested templates. Their enthusiasm for exploration led to the Contemporary Archtop series: archtop guitars designed specifically to meet the demands of today's cutting-edge players. A rare model from the Contemporary Archtop series, the AFC95 Artcore Expressionist features a 16"-wide body with a laminate Spruce top (to reduce feedback) and Flame Maple back and sides. The AFC95 is outfitted with custom-made "Magic Touch-Mini" humbucker pickups, which provide a balance of classic tones, alongside clear articulation across the sound spectrum. These pickups are mounted to the pickguard for a floating design that you typically only find on high-end archtops. Thanks to this design, the pickups don't dampen the guitar's natural body vibration, so it has bigger, richer acoustic tone. This 2017 Ibanez AFC95 looks gorgeous in its satin natural finish. The Flame on the back really pops, and the details stand out from other Ibanez Artcore models—they're showy, sure, but perhaps not as over-the-top as others. It is in excellent condition all around with some minimal signs that it is a used guitar, but no scratches, dings, repairs, or issues (see photos). It is setup with nice, low action and .012-gauge flatwound strings. All in all, this AFC95 is a fantastic archtop with a lot to offer. It includes a featherweight case that is also in nice condition.
