Hidden Track Grenache is a fresh and complex red wine from a single vineyard in the Russian River Valley AVA of Sonoma County. We love all our children equally, but the 2018 Grenache is currently the favorite among friends and family! -- How we made it: Thanks to the mild growing season in 2018, we hand harvested our Grenache grapes in mid October, a full two weeks later than 2017. The extended hang-time gave the berries more time to develop flavor and complexity on the vine. Once the grapes were in the winery, we co-fermented about half of the destemmed berries with half whole-cluster fruit, allowing a semi-carbonic maceration to occur within the whole-clusters, adding bright fruit tones to complement the structure in this special wine. We did gentle punch downs about twice a day for medium color extraction. This wine is everything we love about Grenache – bright fruit notes, great structure, and interesting layers of complexity.
