Vines were first planted here in AD 276 during the reign of the Emperor Probus and the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Winemaking The carefully selected vineyard locations are among the best in the Breskvik micro-climate. The grapes ripen both from the intense sunlight and as a result of reflections off the Dunabe River. The temperatures and freshness of the grapes are moderated by the cool air flowing down the slopes of the Fruska Gora Forest.On the surface, the soil is alluvial with several layers of clay and limestone where roots easily reach fossilized segments of shell and coral that remain from the ancient Pannonian sea sediments.After careful selection, the wines are fermented and aged in barrel before bottling. Tasting Notes The wine has a ruby color with such depth that it nearly appears to have black nuances. Peppery red and black fruits dominate the nose. The round, supple, full-bodied wine features ample spicy black fruit on the palate. It has a sweet core of fruit, with solid acid and structure throughout. The flavors continue exuding powerful fruit, oak spice and mild tannins through a long, layered finish.
