Vuono is Finnish for fjord - a deep, narrow, and long sea or lake drain surrounded by steep land. Fittingly, marine blue hues can be found in the reflective stripes that grace Vuono and her egg from top to bottom, moving in wave-like swirls. The rest is a beautiful indigo color, which may feel blue, grey, or violet to you depending on your mood and perspective. His iconic collection of Birds by Toikka first took flight back in 1972 at the Nuutajärvi glass factory with the creation of his small glass Flycatchers. The collection embodies a rich fusion of glassmaking traditions and would not have been possible without Toikka’s hands-on-approach at the glassworks and his keen understanding of each employee’s skills.
