Alex Foillard is a rising star in the Beaujolais winemaking scene. The son of the famous Jean and Agnès Foillard, his wines are a compelling expression of Gamay. His 2022 Brouilly is crafted from vines approximately 50 years old, rooted in granite-rich soils. It showcases the depth and elegance characteristic of the Brouilly cru. In the glass, it opens with an inviting bouquet of ripe red fruits, raspberry and cherry that are interwoven with delicate floral tones and understated hints of spice and crushed stone minerality. On the palate, it is fresh and vibrant, brimming with juicy red fruit flavours supported by a supple, velvety texture. Well-integrated acidity and fine tannins provide structure and balance, carrying through to a persistent, elegant finish that speaks to both finesse and terroir. While approachable now, the 2022 Brouilly has the potential to evolve gracefully over the next 5 to 7 years.
