ABOUTA unique multiblend white wine from Friulano, Malvasia d'Istria, Picolit & Pinot Bianco inspired by the family's Friulian heritage. With the 2022 vintage marking the 10th release of this wine, we’re excited at the unique place this wild-ferment wonder has in the Australian wine landscape – a testament to Mario’s vision & Madeleine’s winemaking. TASTING NOTES Golden green in colour with a hint of struck match on the nose accompanied by aromas of lemon pith, rind and split peas. The palate begins crisp with slate minerality opening to plush fruit characters of tangerine, nectarine and grapefruit alongside typical savoury character of nutty cashew from the Malvasia component. Subtle hints of oak are present alongside pleasingly amaro-style phenolics and a long finish. An excellent food wine. FOOD MATCHWhen enjoyed young, this vintage suits a plethora of seafood dishes from scallops to roast snapper or with spring vegetables such as Mario’s famous Risotto con asparagi. With age – pair with roasted white meats, goat's cheese tart or smoked trout (we love a tagliatelle with caramelised leeks & smoked trout. CELLARING As we celebrate the 10th release of this special wine, its cellaring potential has been a delightful revelation. As fresh fruit grades to secondary and tertiary character the savouriness of the varietal mix comes to the fore, making it the perfect medium-bodied white for ageing. Akin to chardonnay in this respect, we encourage you to keep some bottles in the cellar for 10 years or more. ACCOLADESJames Suckling - 95 Points'Waxy, textural, floral and full of spice. Aromas of honeysuckle, lanolin, citrus blossoms, jasmine, preserved lemons, white vermouth and salted nuts. The palate is mid-weighted and textural, with slight phenolic grip and a rounded mouthfeel carried by a fine line of acidity, a salty finish and plenty of fruit concentration. Delicious.'
