Central Otago Rieslings are dominated by lively fruit characteristics, which elevate them into a classic style of their own. Our Lowburn Riesling epitomises the strength, vitality and maturity of this increasingly celebrated variety. Fresh, clean and vibrant is the signature characteristic of our 2022 HAWKSHEAD Riesling, with citrus blossom florals, ripe peach and passion fruit aromas on the nose. All those vibrant impressions flow easily onto the palate to discover more flavour notes of lemon sherbet and tropical papaya. More poetic palates may also detect a fleeting memory of honeysuckle, or newly unfurled bramble rose leaves. This is a salivating juicy wine, expressing a linear fruit acidity and a distinct mineral note. It is lean yet generous; the HAWKSHEAD take on a classic Kabinett Style Riesling with Central Otago distinctly its place of origin. We respect tradition and look back to the future in the winery. 25% of the grapes were foot stomped, and the wine is fermented in stainless steel and 25% older oak barriques.
