This is detailed and deliberate, a savvy mind behind this wine but with the ease and elation of a free spirit. I think I’d quite like to meet them. Florals to the fore – there is a small splash of Gewürztraminer here with Shiraz and it shows – with apple blossom, peonies and rose aromas in partnership with cranberry and strawberry. Flavours are summery, red fruited in raspberry and wild strawberry and lifted in spice with good concentration. Fermentation and maturation in seasoned oak for a short time has tied everything nicely together indeed. There’s a nice textural flow and, yes, it’s dry."
