The Light Dry White is a Pinot Noir made like a Chardonnay from organic grapes grown on the terraces of the Ruamahanga River in Martinborough. Vineyard: The fruit comes from the biogro certified Grava vineyard, farmed by Alistair and Karla on the dry river flats 8km south of Martinborough. The vines are grown on the terraces of the Ruamahanga river providing alluvial deposits making silt loam soils. Winemaking: Hand harvested, whole bunch pressed to tank where it settled for overnight then racked to large format barrel for indigenous fermentation. A long, slow 12 month ferment on lees with full malolactic fermentation. Racked to tank and sulphured to bottle. Tasting: Clove, apricot, citrus and earthy savouriness lead the nose. Mid-palate stone fruit and waxy notes bring depth, while vibrant acidity and a saline finish keep the wine poised and refreshing. A more layered and richly textured expression of Light Dry White without losing its signature energy.
