Sourced from the oldest Mencia vines in the country, planted by the Oliver Family in McLaren Vale in 2011. The vineyard is planted on deep ironstone rich soils. Now in their second decade, the vines have achieved balance and maturity, resulting in a structured wine with depth and plenty of intrigue. Our Mencía is made to be very approachable in its youth with restrained tannin and balanced red fruit characters. It is a medium bodied red wine to be enjoyed upon release and will continue to develop over the next three to five years. 95 Points - Q Wine Reviews93 Points - The Wine Front PEDIGREE 95 Points - James Halliday 202495 Points - James Halliday 2023 Top 100 - James Halliday 2023 Vintage 2022"The best iteration of Mencía in the country. Think cool-climate syrah in a more savoury, mellifluous guise, smattered with dried thyme, fennel and peppery tannins, a twine of attractive astringency. A sphere of blue-fruited succulence expands across a fullish girth with energy, drive, length and immense joy. Great drinking!" - 95 Points - Ned Goodwin MW, Halliday Wine Companion 2023Join our Vino Varney wine club now for special pricing and complimentary shipping Australia wide.
