The Lightest, Fastest, Most Capable XC Race Bike Ever — we started with Epic 8's world-beating benchmark, then removed what held it back. 206 grams gone, making Epic 9 the lightest full-suspension XC race bike on the planet. Then we cut suspension friction by 11% and refined the kinematics. The result: unmatched efficiency, capability, and speed per watt. Speed emerges as the natural outcome of a bike so seamlessly integrated around the rider that it disappears, leaving only the rider's full potential, realized. Lightest Full-Suspension XC Race Bike on the Planet 206 grams lighter than the Epic 8 — the Epic 9 takes its place as the lightest full-suspension XC race bike in the world, achieved without sacrificing frame stiffness, suspension kinematics, or component durability. Every gram shaved came from removing what was holding the previous generation back, not from compromising the structure. FACT 11m Carbon Frame Specialized's top-tier FACT 11m carbon frame with Progressive XC Race Geometry and Rider-First Engineered™ tube sizing — each frame size uses its own specific carbon layup to achieve the optimal balance of stiffness, weight, and ride quality. Threaded BB, 12x148mm UDH-compatible rear dropout, internal cable routing, and 120mm of travel tuned for XC racing. 11% Lower Suspension Friction Refined suspension kinematics plus a meaningful reduction in stiction and friction — the rear end moves more freely under power, delivering unmatched efficiency on smooth terrain and better compliance over roots and rocks. The rider puts more watts into forward motion instead of overcoming internal friction. RockShox SID Ultimate Flight Attendant Suspension RockShox SID Ultimate Flight Attendant fork and matching SIDLuxe Ultimate Flight Attendant rear shock — Specialized's Ride Dynamics developed 3-position electronically-controlled suspension system automatically adjusts compression (open / pedal / lock) in real time based on terrain input, letting the rider focus on line choice and power output instead of suspension mode. SRAM X0 Eagle Transmission SRAM X0 Eagle Transmission wireless electronic drivetrain — 12-speed with a massive 10-52T range, no front derailleur, no shift cables, and the AXS POD controller for instant shifts under load. The transmission architecture is harder, quieter, and more weatherproof than mechanical drivetrains, with overload protection that lets the derailleur move out of the way on impact. Quarq XO Eagle Power Meter Crankset SRAM / Quarq XO Eagle power meter crankset with built-in dual-sided power measurement — delivers accurate, reliable wattage data straight to your head unit or computer, the same level of measurement that World Cup XC racers use to pace efforts and analyze training stress. DUB spindle, 34T chainring, 165mm (SM) / 170mm (M-XL). Roval Control SL VI Carbon Wheelset Roval Control SL VI carbon wheels with hookless construction, 29mm internal width, and tubeless-ready design — built in partnership with DT Swiss around DT 350 straight-pull hubs and DT Revolution spokes for a strong, fast-spinning wheelset that handles XC race accelerations and rough descents without complaint. SRAM Motive Silver 4-Piston Disc Brakes SRAM Motive Silver 4-piston hydraulic disc brakes — 180mm rotor front and 160mm rear — deliver powerful, controlled stopping with the lever feel and heat management needed for long technical XC descents. 4-piston calipers provide the bite and modulation that single-track riders and racers need when the trail gets steep and rough. Specialized Fast Trak / Air Trak Tire Combo Specialized Fast Trak (front) and Air Trak (rear) 29x2.35 tires with Flex Lite Casing and T5/T7 dual-compound — fast-rolling center tread for race-day efficiency with enough cornering grip to hold lines on loose and technical climbs. Tubeless setup via Specialized TPU inner tubes, optimized for XC race pressures and puncture resistance. Bike Yoke Divine SL Dropper Post Bike Yoke Divine SL dropper post with 100mm (SM) or 125mm (M-XL) of travel — gives you the descending confidence of a trail bike with the pedaling efficiency of an XC race bike, letting you drop the saddle out of the way on technical descents without adding meaningful weight. SWAT Box 2.0 In-Frame Storage Specialized's SWAT Box 2.0 hidden storage compartment built into the down tube — stashes a multi-tool, spare tube, CO2 cartridge, and tire lever where you'd otherwise need a saddle bag or jersey pocket, keeping the bike visually clean and the load centrally located. Optimized for wireless drivetrains so the storage doesn't fight with cable routing. Specialized Power Expert Saddle Specialized Power Expert saddle with titanium rails — short-nose performance profile reduces soft-tissue pressure on long climbs and aggressive race positions, while the titanium rails save weight and add compliance for a more comfortable ride under hard efforts. The Progressive XC Race Geometry is built around modern XC racing demands: longer reach for high-speed descending confidence, slack head tube for stability on steeps, and steep seat tube for power transfer on out-of-the-saddle efforts. Flip-Chip Adjustable Geometry The Epic 9 Pro includes a flip-chip adjustable geometry system — switch between Low and High settings to tune reach, head-tube angle, and bottom-bracket drop for the day's course.
