On offer is an interesting 1867 manuscript four [4] page letter handwritten by a United States Navy Engineer, officer, likely, named Potts while aboard the USS Dacotah writing to h is friend Hiram Parker Jr. who was on leave from the Dacotah. Potts wrote this letter from Callas Peru on January 12th 1867. He writes a detail packed missive to his friend with tales of a man lost overboard, men with injuries, an Admiral transferring his pennant and one of the crew stealing money and deserting and much more.
