Gino Sarfatti conceived the 2097 in 1958 as a direct refusal of the chandelier's decorative tradition. Where convention demanded crystal and concealment, he offered steel arms and exposed bulbs, making the fixture's architecture fully visible. Nothing is hidden here. The 2097/30 suspends thirty slender arms from a central steel body, each terminating in a bare bulb. Wiring runs openly along the arms, a deliberate choice that treats electrical necessity as compositional detail rather than something to be disguised. At a distance, the fixture reads as a luminous cloud.
