The 20th Century Asian pear tree is a hybrid of two other Asian pear varieties, and is also known as Nijisseiki. Asian pears are generally round in shape, with a crisp, gritty, firm to hard texture and are often called apple pears because of their roundness and crispness. 20th Century' is a medium-sized, apple-shaped fruit with medium, yellowish-green skin. The creamy-white flesh is firm and juicy and good for fresh eating or canning. Well-known for its disease resistance, good fruit productivity, heat tolerance, cold hardiness, and drought resistance, 20th Century pear is an excellent choice in the garden for both novice and experienced gardeners. 20th Century pears are best grown in zones 5-10 and are partially self-fertile. Pollinate with other Asian pear varieties, such as Shinsui or Olympic pear trees. Mature height 15-20' & width of 12-15'. Our pear trees are 3 year trees that our sold in 5 gallon lines and are approximately 6' tall and have a trunk of approximately 2".
