Bright lights, big city...It's 1938, and the neon-lit canopy of Sauchiehall Street's Locarno Ballroom has attracted Glasgow's dance-mad youngsters like moths to a flame. Behind the scenes, things aren't so glam, with this high-angle view revealing that the tops of the canopies were littered with stepladders and old signage.On the bill this night were Ella and Ruth Myles 'The Wondergirls' - a pair of highly flexible acrobatic dancers who could put their bodies in near-impossible positions.
