On offer are a super pair [2] of manuscript hospital or asylum patient medicine dosage log books dated 1915 and 1917 only identified by the initials of KM and later KF on the front covers, likely nurses whose responsibilities seemed to be solely narcotizing their patients. Heroin, Morphine, Codeia, Sedatives and narcotic interventions are detailed in the 'Night Reports' for dosages given to patients. The data offered in the books makes for a significant look into the treatment of patients a century ago and the difference in the attitudes of treatment between then and now. The difference could not be more startling. There are many patient names listed throughout and one can see some receiving dosages of heroin for months on end and several times a day. Undoubtedly a medical researcher or historian can deduce the rationale for the treatments from the data provided. The books are all entirely handwritten in either blue or red ink. There are many variations of handwriting which leads one to believe that various individuals recorded information on different shift nights. The first book 6 5/8" x 4" has 78 pages all of which have writing except for 3. The second book measures 6" x 3 3/4" and has 30 pages filled.
