When all fundamentals align, synergies happen and the whole becomes greater than the sum of the parts. The 2024 St. Urban Riesling is one such phenomenon beautifully expressing the best balance in growing season, varietal and cellar work. The signature lemon-lime zest on a foundation of wet limestone is very forward and is surrounded by a bounty of white peach, Honeycrisp apple, melon and wildflower honey. The acidity is bright and keeps the ample fruit defined as it also keeps the wine laser focussed. Critically, the brisk acidity is also the perfectly balanced foil to the initial mild sweetness of the wine making this great vintage ultimately satisfying. On its own, with savory dishes or with a wide array of mildly salty cheeses, this wine will never disappoint.
