VW Tail Light Housing to Fender Seals – 133-191T-L/R Protect your vehicle's electrical system and rear fenders with these precision-molded Tail Light Housing Seals. This specific gasket is designed for the large, circular "Elephant Foot" style tail lights introduced in the early 1970s. It creates a critical weather-tight barrier between the plastic light housing and the metal fender, stopping water and road debris from entering the housing. The 133-191T-L/R is manufactured from high-quality, ozone-resistant EPDM rubber that remains pliable over time. Replacing these seals is one of the most effective ways to prevent the common "internal rust" that occurs inside the rear fenders and to ensure your tail light bulbs and sockets stay dry and corrosion-free. Detailed Vehicle Compatibility These seals fit the following models equipped with the large-style tail lights: VW Beetle (Standard): 1973, 1974, 1975, 1976, 1977 VW Super Beetle: 1973, 1974, 1975, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979 VW Thing (Type 181): 1973, 1974 Product Highlights & Features Universal Fitment: These seals are non-directional and can be used on either the Left (Driver) or Right (Passenger) side. Watertight Protection: Engineered to compress evenly, filling any gaps caused by minor fender imperfections to ensure a perfect seal. Durable Construction: Built to withstand extreme temperature fluctuations and UV exposure without shrinking or cracking. Direct OE Replacement: Molded to the exact profile required for late-model housings, ensuring a clean, factory-correct appearance. Technical Specifications Part Number: 133-191T-L/R Application: Tail Light Housing to Fender Gasket Material: High-Density EPDM Rubber Quantity: Sold In Pairs Installation & Maintenance Tips Clean the Surface: Before installation, ensure the fender surface is completely free of old rubber bits, wax, or dirt. This allows the new seal to seat perfectly against the paint. Hand Tighten Only: When reattaching the tail light housing, tighten the mounting hardware evenly by hand. Over-tightening can crack the plastic housing or cause the seal to bulge out unevenly. Inspect Electricals: Since you’ll have the housing off, this is a great time to inspect your bulb sockets for corrosion. If you see white powder or rust, clean the contacts before installing the new seal. Replace in Pairs: To ensure your classic looks uniform and both sides are equally protected from moisture, we recommend replacing the left and right seals at the same time.
