Every Jacuzzi® J-400™ Collection spa uses this mesh ProPolish® bag as the first line of defense in its filtration system. It sits above your main filter cartridge and catches larger debris — bugs, leaves, grass clippings, flower petals — before that debris can clog or foul the cartridge below it. Keeping this bag in good shape helps your filter cartridge last longer and keeps your spa water clearer between cleanings. Part #2540-389 is the current 5" short-style bag, replacing older versions sold under part numbers 6540-512, 6540-513, 20076-001, and 6540-496. It's built with a rigid plastic mounting ring and a mesh bag body sized to fit over the secondary filter cartridge installed beneath it. This bag fits J-400™ Collection spas built between 2006 and 2012, including the J-460™, J-465™, J-470™, and J-480™ models. It is not used on the J-495™, J-425™, or J-415™. Depending on your model and year, this bag works with cartridge #2540-384 (J-460) or #2540-387J (J-465, J-470, J-480), both sold separately. The mesh bag is reusable — hand-wash it in dish soap and rinse it thoroughly between cleanings. Avoid Cartridge Cleaner or Instant Cartridge Cleaner products on this part, since they aren't meant for the mesh material. With regular cleaning, most owners get one to two seasons of use before the mesh wears out and needs replacing.
