Paolo Rizzatto designed the 265 in 1973, and its underlying logic has never needed revision. A long swing arm extends from the wall, held in equilibrium by a tapered cast iron coun terweight. The relationship between those two forces is the design: tension made visible, mechanics made graceful. Rizzatto trained as an architect, and that discipline is legible in every proportion. Nothing is added for effect. The reflector support is chrome-plated brass, the body steel. The head rotates a full 360 degrees, giving precise control over where light falls, whether grazing a surface or directing focus across a room.
