The objectives of this course are to provide greater understanding of the procurement strategies available for different project types and work sectors, the options for and choice of an appropriate building contract, and the impacts of both on the Architect’s role and their resources, their responsibilities and liabilities, and how these should be reflected in their professional services contracts.Overview of the modules:1. Speaker Kathy Gal Kathy is a chartered architect in private practice with over 25 years’ design and construction experience in the UK, Europe, the Middle and Far East. She has worked at a senior level for large, multi-disciplinary practices and has since 1999 led her own architectural practice. She has extensive experience of commercial and residential projects at different scales and at all work stages. Cultural experience includes a mosque for 2000 in the Sultan Qaboos University, Oman (with YRM). She has been involved in dispute resolution since 1998 and is a member of the RIBA Panel of Adjudicators. Since 2022, she has participated in a research project into UK adjudication led by King’s College London. She is the Course Leader for the Part 3 and Level 7 Architect Apprenticeship programmes at London South Bank University. She has previously been Head of Professional Practice at the AA and Part 3 Course Lead at Brighton University.
