Standard Installation With Overhangs This picture shows the standard installation with posts installed 12" in from the end of the beams and rafters, creating 12" overhangs. Overhangs can be as much as 36 inches. Alternate Installation No Overhangs This picture shows an alternate installation with posts installed flush with the ends of the beams and rafters (and with flat end caps), resulting in no overhangs.
