Why This Watch Matters It's no secret that we're big fans of 1950s Seamasters. The Full Story Since its introduction in 1948, the Seamaster has been a pillar of the Omega brand. In the collection's 70-year history, Seamasters have been manufactured in many different iterations, from a versatile, everyday timepiece to a robust diver's tool in the Seamaster 300. The example we have here today has a classic silvered dial with applied, faceted hour markers and dauphine hands. This even has an applied Omega logo, which is something we always appreciate. We're always looking for vintage watches with silvered dials and nice patina – it's a feature less often seen in modern watches or anything in between. Even when reproduced, there is nothing like the warmth of a cream dial from this period, they tend to really pop on the wrist. We paired this one with our McBride strap in tan to play off of that nice patina on the dial. The case is very strong with light scratches. The facts on the lugs are very pronounced leading us to believe the case is probably unpolished. There are some marks on the rear side of the lugs from strap changes over the years. The dial is in good condition and has developed a fine patina/ spotting throughout. The edge of the dial shows some wear and the dial has a few scratches throughout. The hour markers, handset, and Omega logo have developed patina; they really pop off the surface in certain lights. The lume on the dial and hands have developed patina and have darkened. The minute hand is missing some lume in the center. Some plots on the dial show signs of degradation. The crystal has light scratches. The crown is a later Omega signed service replacement. The dial, case, movement, crown, and caseback are all signed by Omega. This watch was photographed on a 175mm/6.9inch wrist.
