By design, it has an ideal combination of decreased stretch and increased shock absorption in addition to being salt water, oil and rot resistant. Nylon ropes will lose about 10% of their strength when wet and will elongate considerably more. They will regain their strength when properly dried. Excellent shock absorbency for smooth docking.
