IRWIN FITNESS 3" PERFORMANCE SERIES SOLID HARDWOOD PLATFORM Built as our flagship lifting deck, the 3" Performance Series platform combines proprietary multi-layered Sporttec impact technology with a 3/4" solid oak tongue-and-groove center deck. Engineered for high-traffic commercial facilities, elite Olympic lifters, and repeated heavy drops, this unit delivers maximum acoustic damping, energy dispersion, and long-term durability. Features & Build Specs Made in Canada: Designed, laser-cut, and fabricated in-house using heavy 3" formed steel plate framework for maximum platform mass and zero frame flex. Multi-Density Sporttec Acoustic Core: Engineered with four distinct, high-performance Sporttec rubber layers. The varied density and open-pored matrix are designed to disperse extreme kinetic energy, kill bar bounce, and reduce sound transmission by up to 26 dB over decades of constant commercial drops. 3/4" Solid Oak Tongue-and-Groove Deck: Built using solid oak T&G hardwood planks over a structural subfloor for high point-impact strength, superior load transfer, and a wear surface that outlasts cheap plywood. Industrial Epoxy Moisture Protection: Sealed with a high-traction epoxy coating engineered for automotive-grade wear. Completely repels sweat and ambient humidity to prevent wood warping or bowing over time. Twist-Lock Alignment System: Wood center inserts interlock with twist-lock Allen key joiners and bolt directly into welded frame nuts for a seamless, shift-free fit. Interlocking Rack Extensions: Custom-built 37" x 52" wood extensions interlock seamlessly with the main deck to fit Irwin Fitness racks as well as off-brand rack setups. Why Our 3" Solid Oak Deck Outperforms Standard Plywood Most platform manufacturers use single sheets of rotary-sliced plywood for their center inserts. Rotary plywood relies on paper-thin top veneers (under 1/32") glued over soft inner core layers, leaving the surface prone to gouging, cracking, and delamination under heavy heel drive or dropped iron. Our 3" Performance platform uses a true commercial-grade solid hardwood build: High Janka Hardness: Solid oak resists denting, crushing, and splintering under heavy dropped plates, loaded sleeves, or lifters driving through max attempts. Interlocking Load Distribution: Tongue-and-groove joints bind adjacent oak planks together, spreading kinetic impact across the entire center deck rather than stressing a single point. Lifetime Refinishing Wear: With a full 3/4" solid oak wear layer, the deck can be sanded down and refinished multiple times over decades of daily commercial abuse. Engineered Impact Zones (Decades of Commercial Durability) Rather than using a single slab of standard rubber, our landing zones feature a specialized four-layer composite build. By pairing an open-pored textured top surface with a dimpled, mesh-reinforced sub-base, each layer works in tandem to trap sound, absorb force, and prevent rubber breakdown. This progressive porous structure breaks up the shockwaves from heavy barbell drops, protecting your subfloor, preserving bar knurling, and maintaining its dampening properties over decades of daily commercial abuse. Dimensions & Configurations Footprint Sizes: Available in 4' x 8' and 6' x 8' main platform sizes (with or without custom rack extensions). Total Thickness: 3" overall profile height for maximum vibration absorption and plate containment. Rubber Options: Fully rubberized platforms with custom color-inlaid logos are available upon request.
