Freud 87-408 3-Piece Lettering and Sign Making Router Bit Set The Freud 87-408 3-Piece Lettering and Sign Making Router Bit Set is a professional CNC carving accessory collection engineered to execute precision 2D and 3D lettering, shallow pocketing, dish carving, and sign making across wood, plastic, and aluminum stock. Forged from premier solid carbide with an advanced Black I.C.E. thermal-barrier coating, this 3-piece bit system delivers 2X longer operating life and superior thermal dissipation compared to uncoated bits. Designed for CNC routers, automatic machines, and portable handheld routers, this engraving bit set solves tool overheating, chip clogging, and edge-burning challenges in custom sign shops and precision woodwork fabrication environments. Best Used For: Custom CNC Sign Making & Lettering: Routing clean V-carve lettering, intricate 2D/3D reliefs, and dimensional signage profiles into hardwoods and synthetic plastics. Shallow Pocketing & Dish Carving: Executing smooth base recessing, shallow bowl carving, and decorative fluting across solid wood panels. Non-Ferrous Aluminum & Plastic Engraving: Machining clean profile grooves and lettering inscriptions into soft aluminum sheets and acrylic plastics without gumming. Key Performance & Safety Features Black I.C.E. Thermal Coating: Advanced coating technology maintains a cool cutting edge, prevents resin buildup, and delivers 2X increased tool lifespan. Freud Premier Solid Carbide Construction: High-density solid carbide body ensures extreme structural rigidity and long-lasting edge retention in abrasive materials. Optimized Flute Chip Evacuation: Engineered spiral and V-groove geometry promotes rapid debris and dust expulsion during high-speed CNC routing passes. Multi-Machine Compatibility: Versatile shank design integrates seamlessly into CNC routers, automatic milling centers, and table-mounted handheld routers. Precision 3-Piece Carving Assortment: Curated selection provides the exact geometric profiles required for comprehensive sign engraving and shallow relief work.
