YOU MUST PURCHASE THE BMP-1 SEPERATLY The BMP-1P was an important modernization of the original Soviet BMP-1, introduced in the late 1970s to address shortcomings revealed in early service. Retaining the classic low-profile silhouette and amphibious capability of the baseline vehicle, the BMP-1P focused on improving firepower and survivability. Its most notable enhancement was the replacement of the outdated Malyutka launcher with the more reliable, easier-to-use 9K111 Fagot or 9K113 Konkurs ATGM systems mounted on a rail atop the turret, giving the infantry fighting vehicle far better anti-armor capability. Additional upgrades included improved smoke-discharger arrays and modifications to internal stowage and protection. The result was a more capable and flexible IFV that strengthened motor rifle units throughout the 1980s and became one of the most widely fielded BMP-1 variants across the Soviet and Warsaw Pact forces.
