Description The majestic Fujin Raijin Zu Byobu painted by Tawaraya Sotatsu depicts the Wind and Thunder Gods. Although they are deities, the boundary between gods and yokai is historically ambiguous. Raijin, commonly known as the thunder god, carries a large raiko—a ring of drums used to create thunder—and holds drumsticks in both hands. The flowing johaku cloth and dynamic hair shape help recreate his powerful, energetic appearance.
